One man, Jeffords, used his power to change the leadership in the senate. What if the Congressional Black Caucus were to use its power, and not give blind support to the Democrat Party. If the dems had any idea that the CBC was about to go over to the GOP or if the GOP thought they would come, both parties would bend over backwards just to get them. That's the way politics work, get the best deal possible while you have the power.

Yes, some of "black folks" learned something...that the neither republican nor democrats have the best interest of "people" in mind. The highest bidder brings their allegiance. People who blindly support any political party wear a veil of ignorance.

I can not remember his name but there is a conservative black man in congress from Oklahoma. Is he part of the CBC. Must one be black and liberal or just black to be in the CBC. If a certain political philosophy is not required for CBC membership then the CBC is politically diverse already. Does any one know the answer?

Thanks. I was unaware of whether he was a member. So the CBC should really be called the CBLC or Congressional Black Liberal Caucus. There name implies they include all black members of Congress which is inaccurate and I think presumptuous. But having established that they are liberal to answer your question, they will go with the democrats or maybe greens regardless of who is in power. I can deal with that. Standing by a belief thru thick and thin shows integrity.

Maybe your question would be better phrased did black independents and swing voters learn anything. Not being committed to a party means you can negotiate favors for your vote or affiliation. That is an advantage of being an independent. But I do not think the republicans will try to hard to win the CBC. For the same reason the democrats will not try very hard to win evangelical votes. They are just to far apart.
