Homesteading has a new name!!!!!!!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Yes, wonderful people of Countryside readership/forum, homesteading has a new name,we are now politically correct!!!!!! The following proves it.

"One of the more recent buzzwords or catch phrases in production agriculture has been risk management. But the practice has been around for decades. GreenStone Farm Credit Services farm management specialist Leo Pasch says there are now more ways to manage risk. They use a form of risk management by using crop rotation, diversifying their crops, or getting into multiple entities or enterprises. If you think back in history, farmers 50 years ago had a few chickens, cows, pigs, planted some corn, planted some wheat, planted some oats. What were they doing? They were basically managing their risk through a diverse portfolio. Today producers are more specialized, trying to be more efficient. So they're more confined to certain enterprises, therefore they have the saying of 'all their eggs in one basket.' So what we have to do is come up with different forms of risk management tools to adjust for that."

So there you have it. Now if anyone ask what you do you can tell them you are a "RISK MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST". I have one idea for a "RISK MANAGEMENT TOOL",they should subscribe to Countryside!!!!
