See, I am not really Liberalgreenspun.com : LUSENET : The Christian Church : One Thread |
Guess what folks, I am a b ona fide fundamentalist! There is a website which does a quiz, "which kind of Christian are you?" The address is:
http://www.beliefnet.com/features/searchforjesus/quiz.asp
They ask questiona and based on your responses classify you as a Jessie Ventura Christian, a Bishop Spong Christian, a CS Lewis Christian, or a Jerry Falwell Christian. I am, according to the quiz, In the Falwell Camp. (I scored 355 out of 400 points) Thought Danny and Mark would be relieved to know I am so conservative. :)

Actually CG,I consider Falwell a "Semi-Liberal" as he has either not understood or held to the Full Gospel - such as Baptism for Salvation.
Liberalism exists on more than one plane. Political Liberalism is bad - Theological Liberalism is deadly....both physically & spiritually.

By the way,I had a 394 - and only that because at least one of the questions did not have the correct answer even listed.

MarkActually I detest Falwell's politics, but probably agree with him more on salvation. I am just not persuaded yet of the RM position.
I would have scored higher but I threw a couple of the questions so to see how accurate it was. But they leave out social ethics and that is why th ey see me as so conservative/

I only got 368 on the quiz.I agree that some of the answers weren't really good. I probably got points 'taken off' for not saying that the Kingdom of God was heaven., and chosing instead that it related to the relationship between men and between man and God. 'Kingdom of God' and 'Kingdom of Heaven' seem somewhat interchangeable, but Jesus was talking about a kingdom that would effect life here on earth as well. I chose the Good Friday date for the trial of Christ for lack of other options. The answer choices for the reason Jesus knew he would be prosecuted was another sticky one. I chose that Jesus knew He would be executed for claiming to be the 'Son of Man,' because of a lack of options. Jesus knew that He was to be delievered up to death, but it doesn't say He knw what grounds they would try to accuse Him of. He may have known what excuse they would use.
Another question that probably took some Conservative pointso ff my score was that I chose that Jesus primarily taught the kingdom of God, rather than salvation through faith in Him. Salvationthrough faith in Him is one aspect of the Kingdom of God. that choice didn't include repentence, adn Jesus preached repentance. The kingdom of God message includes the salvation message that Jesus preached, so I chose that one.
They still put me in teh Falwell category.

I had a 381.But I don't consider myself a Falwell follower.
I consider myself a Jesus follower.

That's scarey Link,Other than the last question you mention on Salvation, I had problems with the exact same questions. Since He said He was, the way, the truth, & the life - I have no problem agreeing that His basic message was Salvation in Him. Without Him - nothing else matters.

I gave answer #1 to the first seven questions. Question 8 was about His appearance, and there is remarkably little in Scripture to go on. While Galilee was ethnically mixed, Jesus was a Jew. There are blond Jews. (Perhaps that is a more recent phenomenon). The passage which gives the most information is Isaiah 53: KJV Isaiah 53 53:1 Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed? 53:2 For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
HE HATH NO FORM OR COMELINESS.........THERE IS NO BEAUTY THAT WE SHOULD DESIRE HIM.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ 53:3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. 53:4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. 53:5
But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. 53:6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. 53:7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth. 53:8 He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken. 53:9 And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth. 53:10 Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand. 53:11 He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities. 53:12 Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

There is some reference to His being 'fair' which means light in color, but I have forgotten the reference.
Anyway, I chose 'Impossible to know....'
I chose #2 in Q9 (single and celibate); #1 in 10, 11, 12, 14, 15, 18, 19, and 20.
Respectfully,
