We had a little spiritual discussion while working in the garden.I was trying to explain my convoluted, interlocking, opposing blather.Nick looked at me funny.Nick came up with "Life is dirt". "Any question there is the answer is 'dirt'".
He might be on to something there.I was trying to come up with a name for his particular idea. I thought maybe "Dirter" or then again "Bubbaism"
Anyway,Adom means soil in greek(I think),so maybe he's hit upon the real meaning of life,I don't know. How about it?

oooommmmmm.......dirt equals dirt pie squared.????

Maybe you can call it "soiltology". I have always cosidered the "food chain" as a circle , starting and stopping with the worms and the dirt in their passing. "The worms crawl in, then crawl out. In the end, they play pinochle on your snout." :>)

Yes,Jay,you got the idea.Nick said life starts from dirt,we end up dirt, life in between is dirt(he's a pessimist),dirt is eternal, and dirt is full of life. Thus, life is dirt.I believe he likes dirt!I like that name you came up with.
Diane and her square mud pies-funny.

Silly Diane...pie aren't square - everybody know pie are round!! (Cobbler are square!) ;o)Hmmm...you guys may be on to something there, Sharon. When I have a stressful day, I come home to the garden, stick my hands in the soil and instantly feel grounded.

Hmmm lets see:What is the meaning of life? Dirt Is there a God? Dirt Is there life after Death? Dirt What came first the chicken or the egg? Dirt Where did we come from? Dirt

Dirt isn't the meaning of life. The meaning of life is 42.For any of you science fiction fans who haven't heard the news yet, Douglas Adams passed away on Saturday. :-(

I remember reading The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy many, many moons ago. I liked it but never really got into anything else of his which is surprising because I generally like Monty Python type humor.BTW, Richard Dawkins wrote a little about Adams and his passing:
Lament For Douglas

Lest I should digress here, but the Native Americans placing of soil and all such matter as "mother earth" gave it its' just dues in my opinion. As the source of all life ,could it not be considered life itself in one sense or another.

I love dirt. I love diggin in the dirt. However, dirt alone is not enough. You need water, oxygen, warmth and light along with the dirt. And you also need bees. Dirt under a rock, no life sprouts forth, dirt out in the open, everything pops out.Points to Ponder:
When a plow goes over the earth and rips up the protective skin of covering, the earth works as fast as it can to "heal" the area and cover it back up again, much like our own skin. Every time I see a plowed field, I am reminded of that wonder, and it kinda hurts to see it ripped up.
Did you know if you hoe your garden at night and the little seeds don't see the light as your're turning them round and round, they won't sprout? IF they see the light, something happens and it wakes them up.

Another point to ponderI think it is strange that our culture has grown to view dirt in a negative sense, when in reality it is what sustains our existance. The opposite of "clean" (desirable) is "dirty" (undesirable). Scandal is referred to as "dirt". Porn is referred to as "dirty" pictures or movies. Advertising for household cleansers equates dirt with germs (disease).
My feeling is almost the opposite (what else would you expect?). Very little is more rewarding than eating fresh food right in the garden, not having to even think about whether it's "clean" or not!
