To Ultraboard or not to Ultraboard?greenspun.com : LUSENET : digital ink : One Thread |
It appears that as part of my domain package, I get free use of Ultraboard Standard (aka, not the unregistered, lacking-certain-options version). I was thinking of giving it a whirl -- what do you all think? Do you like the forum the way it is, or would an actual system work better? I'd have more control over the Ultraboard, for one...

I would say go with the Ultraboard. :)

It's free, no?At least give it a whirl. If you don't like it you can always go back to this.

Oui. Go for the Ultraboard. Très cool. =)Incidentally, I find it amusing that your Miss Cleo thread shows up #9 when you search Yahoo for her.

So THAT'S where all those random people are coming from.

Free toys always good. :) I would SO try it.

I'm with everyone else: Try it!

It's got prettier colours than this one. Colours are important.

Yeah, but you'd have to register to be able to post. Apparently this is a travesty in some people's eyes.

Registering is the best! Yahooooo!

If you want to give the other version a try, by all means go for it but please don't get rid of this one. I'm one of those people who hates registering - it's such a hassle and passwords are always so difficult. But of course if you made it compulsory I'd do it - I'd just rather not.

I'm not sure. There was an UltraBoard at my domain for two years. A few things about it bothered me:1. After a year, posts were deleted, and it was harder to access older posts. 2. When something went wrong with the domain, its entire set-up and content was deleted. 3. They're more time-consuming. I used to be a regular at Tim's boards, but when they changed to UBB-format, browsing was too slow for my poor computer to handle.
And, given that that these posts take the form of questions, rather than general discussion, I'd stick with greenspun.
