Well i guess I am really a homesteader now .I pulled my first calf!!! Its a boy black with white on the face.Mama was at it for a while getting no where and the woman in me {i still remember giving birth} had to step in .we pull when she pushed and out he popped. Both are doing well.I posted a picture on the picture page for all to see.Now we still have lambs coming ! Don't know if I can take it.

Congratulations, Patty. What a terrific feeling being that close to the miracle of birth (and not being in the throes of labor yourself). I'm going to check out the picture now. Best wishes to mother and child. Good luck with the lambing.

Thanks for reading.

Wow, that's great, Patty. I envy you, I really don't think I could do that. I hope the goats can deliver on their own. Regards, Doug

Congratulations, Patty! Felt the same way the first time I helped to birth a goat:-) Like now I'm a real country girl! (And it's exciting every time)

Way to go Doc! I mean Patty.

Just a reminder, always check to make sure there is not a twin still waiting to be born.

Wow! That must have been a wonderful experience! So far I've only had experience with the smaller animals like our rabbits. I can't imagine something like helping a calf be born (although i did have three babies of my own!)

good luck on the new "family" member!

Congratulations Patty. That is so exciting. The closest I have come is helping with Great Dane puppies and even then I did the heavy looking on while hubby did the assist. It is truly wonderful when you know you helped an animal (or two) to survive who otherwise might not have.

Congrats! Glad it wasn't a stillbirth.

I know how you feel. I said the same thing when I helped the goats being born. Feels great, doesn't it?

Way to go! Patty, that is so special. I help my dogs when needed with problem births and there is a special "bond" I feel when I do and all turns out well.***Hang in there,,,get plenty of rest when possible..all those lambs coming...Take care,,,

Congrats!!! You know, Patty - that same 'woman in you' will get you through those lambs, too!!! She's a pretty smart lady!
