For a teenage picture of him, not often seen---go to http://etext.lib.virginia.edu/poe/alumnews/poe-all.html. 1st there are 2 "typical" pictures. Then in the center of the page is one from his college days. This site is a good source of info. re. Poe in college, and the unjust defamation he eventually received.

Unfortunately, the "teenage" picture of Poe mentioned above is not an authentic image, although it has been incorrectly noted as of Poe (I believe in the Anglo-Saxon Review, in the early 1900s). The portrait is discredited by Michael Deas in his definitive Portraits and Daguerreotypes of Edgar Allan Poe.
