Policy statement of A.M.E Churchgreenspun.com : LUSENET : A.M.E. Today Discussion : One Thread |
I am a seminary student that must do a ten page essay on the policy of the A.M.E Church for a christian ethics class. I was wondering if there have been any recent policy papers written recently or any ethical stands taken by the church. Prehaps following last years General Conference. I have my Discipline and the books on the polity of the church, but in light of the many issues facing the world community I just wondered if we have any new stands.

Hello Sharon:I would strongly urge that you contact the Compilation Committee to see if there were any significant changes made in the 2000 AME Discipline which addresses the issue of AME Ethics. A friend of mine is a member of the committee her name is Eileen Warner and her email is instruct26@hotmail.com. She is also a Candidate for this year's Lay Connectional Office, Director of Public Relations. You can tell her I refered you. This committee is quickly wrapping up its work so you need to move quickly. Are you a seminarian at ITC?? QED

Sharon,I do not have an answer to your question, however, I am wondering why it is taking so long to get a published offical report of the minutes, resolutions and business of the General Conference. I am certain that General Conference met to accomplish business other than electing and assigning bishops.
