need a manual and advice: Agfa C-66

Hello,

I have purchased an almost new enlarger. It's a AGFA C-66 and can print color and b&w. It has a sensitivity timer which I barely know how to use. If anyone has info on this thing or can direct me to someone who does I'd appreciate it. I tried to reach Afa thru email and phone calls but no one has responded. I printed a negative on an f-22 with a #5 filter exposed in 4 secs. and the image came out great. I'm pleased with that but I think that is not normal. The bulb seems too brght. Most exposures on this enlarger can't be over 6 secs or the print comes out too dark. Am i doing something wrong? Does someone have an enlarger like this? Any help will be appreciated. Can't waste any more paper. Thanks Elle

Response to need a manual and advice.

I have no specific knowledge of your particular enlarger, but you need to look for a lower-wattage light source (maybe just another bulb) and in the interim put some diffusion material in the light path somewhere above the negative to dim the source. You didn't mention what size print you were making, but prints less than 8x10 may call for small stops and short times. The sensitivity timer may be some way to adjust brightness to accommodate paper speed.
