New comp & Ralph Waldo Emersongreenspun.com : LUSENET : Beyond the Sidewalks : One Thread |
Well we've finally done IT! As I'm writing this I'm looking across the room at the brandy-spankin' new computer still looming ominously in it's cardboard carton , wryly attempting to intimidate me with its' stickers full of impressive #'s , warnings and general BS. It's getting late (for me) now, but by this time tomorrow should have it up and running and be able to do something at a little quicker pace, don't know if that's good or bad for you all!?!? Anyway a little RW Emerson as a "final" message here in case the computer wins tomorrow morning: " To laugh often and much, to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children: ; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden, or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived, this is to have succeeded.

I'm envious, dan. I'm still limping along with my old Sony VAIO 166 Mhz computer. I can't believe it will be five years old this coming winter. It's been a good companion for all this time but it's getting closer and closer to the time when it'll have to be put out to pasture.
