I have found a 2-year-old unused Elmira kitchen stove for $1300. This seems to be a great bargain as the new ones cost about $4000. Does anyone have experience with this stove? Is the firebox adequately large for any amount of household heating? Is it a fuel hog?Would love to hear some feedback before I pursue the purchase.
Thanks!

Any cook stove will heat up your house but they are primarily a kitchen range and you need to keep stoking them. Generally they are not tight enough to hold a good fire over night unless you are using coal. But that price is a steal, I would not pass it up if I had the chanceI think elmira's are voer rated, they are pretty but there is a lot of sheet iron in them where I would want more cast iron.
