was poe truly an alcoholic? i read somewhere he may have a brain lesion and that he was very sensitive to alcohol. answer 3/25 please

It is believed that Edgar Allan Poe was an alcoholic, and perhaps to some degree he was, but it would be a statement of greater truth to say that he was very sensitive to alcohol. He had a relatively low tolerance, thereby intoxicating him only after little consumption. He did fancy spirits and wine, and often drank to forget.
