what is the width of the narrow gauge track?

That's a bit like asking how tall is tall. Narrow gauge varied widely. The most common width in the U.S. was 3 feet (in contrast to the standard gauge of 4'81/2") However, Maine had some 2 foot narrow gauge. There were probably some other sizes in a few unusual applications. Some European countries use meter gauge. As a historical note, prior to 1883, many southern roads were 5 feet. The Erie (I think) at one time was 6 feet!
