CAN YOU FURNISH ME WITH ANY INFORMATION ABOUT THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF A CLASSLEADER. HOW TO BE A MORE EFFECTIVE CLASSLEADER OR ANY OTHER INFORMATION YOU MAY HAVE ABOUT CLASSLEADERS.

Please see pp. 77-79 of the 1996 Discipline for info on "classes" and "class leaders".That being said, much of the duties of the CL's is obsolete in a modern, large, congregation, but some of the duties are what maintains close contact in a large congregation and can be very helpful in aiding new members in becoming integrated into a new congregation. (NOTE: Do not confuse congregational classes with church school classes(.
A couple of the duties are: * to visit osthe calsses frequently * to meet with class members weekly to inquire "how each soul prospers * to exclude, suspend, and expel members from the class meeting * to watch over probationers with special care and recommend those eligible for full membership after 90 days. * to report to the Official Board those who are sick or who walk disorderly.
Also, there use to be "class dues" which were collected by the CL's to be reported to the Stewards and I think this was used to help provide for the pastor or the Presiding Elder.
I hope this helps.
