I heard Bill O Reilly say 69 percent of black children are born out of wedlock. Do you think it is true and what is the affect. May God help us if it is true because some of the problem must be happening in Christian homes.

Dear Nathan,

Please don't make inflammatory statements unless you can support it with reputable statistics. The media is hostile towards Africans and African-Americans and rarely depicts us as we see ourselves. I have a picture on my desk that I received from an African friend which shows African children in their school uniforms playing on their school ground. This school is a four story commercial building which was constructed by other Nigerians. There is also a Nigerian stock ex change. However, the American media will probably never show this aspect of daily life in Africa. The media would have us believe that Africans are constantly at war, experiencing famine, or some other negative event. Likewise, the media would throw at this negative statistics about us African-Americans.

I don't know if the statistic is true, but I'm not doubtful. But children born out of wedlock is a problem period. Across cultural.

You did mention that this must be happening in Christian homes. I must tell you this is also very true. I was looking to do some volunteer work in a Pregnancy Crisis Center. One of the things the social worker informed me that she was surprised that many of the girls were part of a Church congregation and attended it regularly.

So we don't want to single out Blacks, but know this is a problem and it is part of the Church.

The statistics are skewed. It is my experience that most Afrikan American females choose to keep thier children rather than aborting them. It is a matter of economics...Poor women can not afford to have abortions, so the children are born to unwed mothers. Which is the lesser of two evils?

There is definitely something happening in the Christain community. I think that the Church should seriously address the problems of family. Could it be that it is too concerned with religion or the business of operating a church? And not giving enough attention God. Are the leaders preaching (speaking to someone) and not teaching the people how to get closer to G-d?

You know this is a result of 40 years of the Church in a backslidden condition. What we are assuming that is revival in our churches is nothing more than playing a game with God. We the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ have sit at the table of compromise too long which resulted in bastard children, the jails filled up, people dying with AIDS, and other horrors, that should of been prevented. We think that this move of God is going to bring His glory and righteousness in, but in II Chron 7:14 say..."If MY people who are called by MY name shall humble themselves and pray, seek MY and face and TURN from THEIR wicked ways then I will hear from Heaven and heal THEIR lands" We are in a backslidden conition. We have preachers preaching a milktose watered down gospel, not hearing from God rather appease the congregation with tickling sermons. Judgement begins in the House of God, correction is going on now. We get mess like this in sociey when we allow pastors to lead the people astray, and blood of many is on the their hands. (Jer 23:1)

Hi Nathan I wish you could mention who did this research and why did they single out the African /african americans.Humans will remain humans where ever u go. Regardless of colour, race name it.Behavior is basically the same.Only Jesus can change that. The issue that should be discussed should be focused on how many children are born out of wed lock and what the church should do about it.God is not interested in how many problems you have identified but how you helped to solve them God bless you.
