Anyone in the Cortez-Dove Creek, Co area?greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread |
Hey there. I'll be relocating to SW Colorado some time this spring or summer. Looking at Cortez & Dove Creek. Does anyone have any information pro/con about these areas? Thanks, dh in nm

My husband initially laughed... He lived there 40 years ago, says Dove Creek is windy, is the pinto bean capital of the world, has lots of archeology, scarity of water, and the nearest medical facilities are Cortez, CO or Monticello, UT. Also said Dove Creek was initially named Pidgeon Creek -- guess the doves overpowered them?

Hi debra in nm. We will be moving to Pagosa Springs Co. in June. Pagosa is also in SW Co. I don't know much about Cortez but will be watching for any more answers to your question. I don't believe the area around Pagosa is very homesteader friendly because of the prices of the land, but we love the area so much we thought we would give it a try. The growing season is only about 90 days if your lucky. Cortez may be a little better. Good luck to you. MJ in Texas
