I was wondering what scientist use to monitor volcanoes, and are all temperatures generally the same, and if so what would it be.

Scientists study premonitory signals like uplift, tilting of the ground, and occurrence of heightened earthquake activity in order to monitor volcanoes.

I aggree with the answer that Chris Penn gave. In addition to what he said scientists can also look out for changes in both gas emissions and heat flow monitor and predict an eruption. This comes from our notes on page 3 of the Volcanic Activity notes.
