Hello. My husband and I would like information on Utah.We are thinking of moving there in the next 6 years. We are looking for a home that sits on about 1-2 acres of land..and cost no more then $80,000. I am into gardening and homesteading and would like to get some animals after we move out there..

Thanks for your imput. L

Utah's a great place to live. My wife and I have lived here most of our lives and we like it. There are areas in Utah where you should be able to find a fixer-upper or a smaller home in the price range you are looking at. Lots of open space in the state and plenty of people with livestock and gardening skills as well as self sufficiency training. We'd be glad to correspond and help all we can.

Fellow 'former' Illinoisan!!! I used to live in Arlington Heights (the Racetrack is there...) Anyway, I wish you all the best and most wonderful blessings on your move!

Can't help much with Utah, been through it and its GORGEOUS country down there!!! I live in Idaho... surprisingly close to IL in climate up here in the mountains. I was shocked!

If you want to come a little farther North, Theres some great places up here, too -

That's very broad question - Utah is big! We live in Salt Lake County & have a very small cabin in Duchesne County about 2 hrs east near Strawberry Res. on 20 acres of cedars & sage. The cabin is in no- man's land, has only one solar power panel & NO water ($10,000 to drill a well) & you can't get up the road for 3 winter months = it cost $80,000 AND there is no work within an hours drive. IMHO: I'd look at southern Utah, it's cheaper but bring a gaggle of your own family & friends. Your neighbors will be very nice folk but are very busy doing their own thing with their own people.

Hi Lisa and Hi Marv & other Utah neighbors!

Ironic that you're from a place called Zion and want to move to Utah, :).

We're down here in So. Utah, just to the East of Zion National Park, on the East fork of the Virgin River. Everywhere you look is spectacular scenery. Some places are very expensive, but I think you could certainly find what you need, especially if you want to be out in the boonies. Just about everybody around here gardens or raises critters or both.

E-mail if I can help with more specifics.
