Can anyone help me with this? I reinstalled Windows today and I cannot open Outlook Express. It gives me a message that it has performed an invalid function and will be shut down. I can't even get it open. I tried reinstalling Microsoft Office 2000, and all the other Office functions work. I tried repairing it from the CD Rom, then reinstalling, and I still get this.Does anyone know what I can try next? Thanks! Here's the message:

OUTLOOK......**Express** (not 2000) is INSTALLED WITH I.E.Do your self a favor and get the full most recent
version 5.5.4522.1800
It will probably correct the problem. This is also a good way for Win 98 people to stay current because IE's newest versions brings down with itself, the latest updates in the DLLs that make WIN work better. IN SHORT.......FREE UPGRADE.

cpr,can you tell me how I get this upgrade? And if I upgrade the Outlook Express from the web, will it require upgrading IE from 5.0 to something higher? I don't want to upgrade my IE itself.
Thanks!!

IE 5.0 to 5.5 latest is not a "big upgrade". I have to install it whenever I install win2000 and 5.5 is in place. Win defaults back (PITA). Win ME replaces all the IE 4.0 or earlier that is out there. You can't install OE by itself. It is the Mailer for I.E. You can re- install 5.0 but you shouldn't. All you need is "ie5setup.exe" AND if you are LUCKY LOOK VIA "search" for it and all your "install files are still on the drive". If it starts to re-install and needs something,,,it will try to go to the MSFT FTP site for it. IF YOU ARE MISSING THAT GET TO: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/Ie/default.htm and hit the download and it will give you the SAME "setup" file 1/2 meg. After that Try "WEB ACCESSORIES" http://www.microsoft.com/Windows/IE/WebAccess/default.asp and get: The Power Toys and Tweak. Web Accessories from Microsoft ie4wa "something" Internet Explorer 5 Web Accessories and: Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 Power Tweaks Web Accessories and Microsoft Web Developer Accessories THE BEST IS:Turn the Internet Explorer toolbar into a work of art! Run the download, close Internet Explorer, then start it up again. Choose Toolbar Wallpaper from the Tools menu and pick your wallpaper!

I prefer the latest when it comes to MSFT and almost always run on Beta (I'm hoping to pick up Office XP (2002) next week along with Whistler Pro Beta.BUT try this: .....SHORTCUT........I.E. 5.0 and OUTLOOK EXPRESS **SHOULD** be on your intallation disk (CD).
USE "ADD REMOVE PROGRAMS" and try to get them with Windows doing the thinking for you. It will discard the corrupt files and set both up again.
