I'm considering starting a co-op gallery in Chicago and I am looking for advise from those of you who have experience or knowledge on the matter. One question I have is are they usually set up as not-for-profit organizations? Anything you can offer is greatly appreciated. Thank you, Karen

Karen, I am involved with a non-profit arts center which 'sort of' has a co-op associated with it, the co=op is 'for profit.' My information is that it is not possible to have a non-profit co- op. That's in FL, so I don't know if the situation is different in other places.
