According to you what is the "Good News"greenspun.com : LUSENET : The Christian Church : One Thread |
would like those here to share what they believe was the "Good News" that Jesus was sent to teach according to what is "written". I am not interested in "traditions" unless it's backed up by Biblical priciples. Thanks, Creel

Greetings brother: The good news a reason to rejoice! How terriabile men can be in their traditions hindering the Lord. According to Gods word, the blind man when he was set free to see, the traditionalist were angry and he himself was rejoicing! The tax collecter who Jesus said surely this is a son of Abraham. What these two men have in common is good news. When you truly come to know Jesus personally no matter what others do or say you can rejoice. Romans 10:9-10 is a verse that reveals what Gods Spirit can do. The Spirit that raised Jesus to life is the same Spirit that can give life to your mortal bodies. We live in a land with so many scholars but few souls who are rejoicing because of the good news about Jesus dieing and being raised again for us. Do you know Jesus or do you want to know him? I really hope you can rejoice because of him.

Alex,Thanks for your response.
Maybe I should be a little more clear of the question. I want to know what those here think the "good news" or what many consider to be the "gospels" according to the first 3 chapters of the New Testament? These 3 being the main ones that record Jesus "speaking" rather than what Peter, Paul, etc wrote (eventhough I consider them all inspired words from God.) Or even what led up to the New from the Old, laying a path as it were, telling us what was to come.
Many teach that the gospels teach that "Jesus came" to offer himself, which is true. Or as you pointed out that we must believe on him, which is also true.
But, is that the emphasis of his message then even "he" was given to preach?
Best regards, Creel

Creel,Simply stated, the "Good News" is simply that God has provided a means of Salvation - that means being Jesus Christ. This Salvation had been promised since Adam & Eve were kicked out of the Garden and was finally manifested in Jesus Christ.
Then the actual Gospel message branches out in the teachings of Jesus & His Apostles providing the requirements for accepting that Salvation.

Rom. 3:21-24 "But now a righteousness from God, apart from the law, has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus." Freely, by his grace, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all who believe. That is the Good News!
