When it comes to do-it-yourself projects, there are no mistakes, just creative endeavors.:~}

Some creative endeavors take a very long time to recover from...

Thanks, CindyThat's inspirational for me. I seem to have more do-overs than do-it-yourselfers. I even put up kitchen cabinets, didn't like them, took them down and put them up differently. I'm much happier with the results, but there's no wondering why it's taking so long to get this house done!!

Cindy, I agree with you on some levels, but don't do stuff the way I used to. I was too proud to admit I didn't know everything, and therefore didn't ask people for help/information. I made a lot of unnecessary mistakes because of this.JOJ

Yep! And when those "creative endeavors" become so creative that they don't serve the intended purpose very well or at all, they become "art of the lawn variety." ;-)

I just like to call it "compiled empirical data reflecting potential hazards to acceptable outcome", if I'm able to think coherantly and not in ICU at the time, other wise I SCREWED UP fits just fine. :>)

I have to disagree and say I have MADE mistakes. Some rather expensive ones, as well. Here's my biggest so we can all laugh over it....Believing the guy at the large equipment rental place that a backhoe will do a fine job of putting in a pond. Maybe a good sized koi pond, but I had a stupid hole that didn't hold water and cost almost $500 and two very long days! I did have fun figuring out how to operate a backhoe, but some things are better left to professionals...that was one of them. My friends dubbed it "Doreen's Not so Grand Canyon". I had to have a dozer guy come in to fix my "pond" for me. More money!!

As a perfectionist, I find it refreshing that i can laugh at myself more than I used to. Perfectionism and dyslexica doesn't mix well, I'm glad I learned about creative endeavors.

I like the creative endeavors as well, Cindy! Here's another thing that someone said to me YEARS ago that helped me stop being 100% anal about things...."Perfectionism is the greatest deterrent to progress." In homesteading there are so many things that require sticking to a particular progression, which is also really helpful for me, I don't generally have very much patience for the processes of things....an A, therefore, Z type of person. God bless!

This is a lot like what I've told my knitting students over the years. When they come to me with "I made a mistake" I tell them that they haven't. What they have done is create an unplanned design feature that they can choose to eliminate (rip out) or incorporate. Most chose to eliminate the UDF, but they usually realize that knitting isn't brain surgery and they relax and enjoy it more.

Mistakes, I love em. When I look back over the years the events that really stick out are the screw ups. I even managed to live through them all. Some of them were downright exciting. If there is anything I would pass on to my daughter it is that mistakes are just lessons. Nobody was born knowing everything so just get in there and try it. That and be very suspicious of anyone who comes across as being obove mistakes.

Ah Errors! What would life be with out them Probly less stressful. But so much would be missing Some of my best mistakes were the causes of some very beautiful Pieces the came out better than the orignal ideas were. they just can be a bit fustrating when they occur. To live is to grow is to makes a few mistakes so we can learn.

I don't know, I've made some horrible mistakes that hurt not only me but my animals amd other people. I think it depends on the mistake!
