YESSS! PIZZA LOVERS, REJOICE!!!greenspun.com : LUSENET : Poole's Roost II : One Thread |
Some of youse guyz (that's Yankee for "ya'll") know that I've been intrigued with natural remedies and supplements for some time now. I bought a copy of Natural Health Bible, which appears to be very well-done. Any claim made for an herb or supplement is supported by scientific studies; where there are no studies, you're warned about that, too.Well, I browsed to the page about cancer prevention and guess what? It seems that cooked tomatoes can have a significant (VERY significant) effect in preventing several types of cancer.
Get that? COOKED tomatoes!!! (Eat y' heart out, Hallelujiah Diet!)
PEEEEZZZZZZZZZZZZAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
(Yes, the article specifically mentions PIZZA as being therapeutic!!!)
(Something about the natural oils in the mozarella helping the lycophene in the tomato to be more effective, maybe?)
(WHO CARES!)
Pizza. Pasta with marinara sauce. Tomatoes fried with rosemary and basil in olive oil.
Life is good, ya'll. :)

Heck, anyone with a nose knew already that pizza is therapeutic. It provides aromatherapy, if nothing else. And stress reduction. But, what this study really suggests is that the most practical way of getting the benefits involved would be to eat a nice big bowl of stewed tomatos. Yum!

The tomatoes are full of lycopine, which also gives them that red color. It's difficult to be absorbed unless it has been heated...similar to the tetrahydracannabinol from the cannabis sativa plant...Tomatoes are the richest source...I'd consider that the high fat content from the sausage and mozzarella cheese may put a kibosh on the benefits when eating pizza...just a guess on my part.
Don't forget your Omega 6 fatty acids, flax oil rules...

LEONARD!Hey, folks, say "hello" to this guy. He and I were partners in crime on a few sordid software projects a few years back. I was content to be a part-time hacker and full-time radio engineer; he SEDUCED me into working with him on the best anti-virus package ever conceived for DOS. :)
Lycopine, huh? I guess I mispelled it.
So kill me. :)

Anything that'll take market share away from KFC certainly has my vote.

Hi, Leonard!!
(Stephen, how do these people find you? It was your brother two or three boards ago, and now Leonard. Do you have a homing device on you or something?!?!)
Oh, I almost forgot -- WOO HOO!! on the pizza thing. (Though I am SOOOOOOOOOOOO missing NYC pizza. Must be the water here; they just don't "do it right".)

I don't normally like pizza. Much like coffee, it's never been a staple in my life. I DID have some GREAT pizza once, however, but I don't know the vendor. SO's son had come to visit us in our apartment in Illinois and we decided to order a pizza for dinner. His son made the call and we about fell over when the bill was something like $25.00. Okay...his son is a yuppie, but I can still taste that pizza, and it was GRRRRRRRRREAT!

Trish,My Web site is listed with a lot of search engines. One reason why we have people posting questions here about coffee is because they're doing searches on "coffee" and "Arabica," for example. Leonard found me by searching for my name.
I'm famous. :)
(Now if ONLY I was rich . .. .. .[g])
