Mistakes by an independent local company contracted to do natural gas meter reading have created a migraine headache for ATCO Gas.

ATCO Gas is currently reviewing its Fort McMurray customer accounts after determining some customers have been billed too little for their actual use.

"We had a local company doing our meter reading in the past year and it came to our attention that there had been a whole bunch of errors that popped up as of January," said ATCO Gas district operations superintendent Doug Brown.

Brown said ATCO Gas doesn't know how many of its 11,000 Fort McMurray customers received inaccurate bills.
