Does anyone know if a lender is required to produce an orignal mortgage deed when persuing you or whether a copy or certified copy would be acceptable to a judge. Thanks

Copies seem to be acceptable Tim. The Judge had no problem with them in our case. Jacky.

If it goes to court, make sure that either you or your counsel, *insist* on the production of the original mortgage deed. That could be the key: if you don't ask, you don't get.

Some lenders don't seem to have some mortgage deeds.

If the lender cannot produce the original mortgage deed, and you can show that you asked to see it in the pre-lit negotiating stage, things could be rather awkward for the lender.
