Yanno, I kept meaning to ask that question myself. Thought it was just me cause I've also been having a hard time with aol. But the greenspun problem occurs even when I'm at work(i.e. not on aohell).

Hmm - was just a bout t say I've been getting a lot of Error 404 errors whan I got an Error 400 error.

As for the slowness of posting - I find that very often the message has actually been accepted, even when the confirmation screen hasn't appeared - simply using the "Back" and "Refresh" keys usually shows the new message. Probably explains why we're seeing a few double postings. Well, either that or user incompetence - but I can't believe that of this community (Screach excepted).

I find that after clicking on a link, if it doesn't come up straight away press Stop then click on the link again - it then comes up immediately. Weird stuff this computer larky.

Yep - I've been blaming my ISP. Problems getting access; frequent problems posting, and frequently problems changing pages.

Occasionaly recently, when I haven't been able to access the sign on page directly from my Bookmark, I've been able to access the Greenspun Home Page, get through to the Lusenet bbs listing, but then not into this bbs!

Why is it that abysmal performance levels that would never be tolerated in any other industry - other than possibly pro football and the railways - are routinely accepted as 'acts of god' in the computer systems/service industry? Why can't all the brains employed in this industry just figure it out?

Anyone help me here with an observation I've made over many years?

I get similar sometimes the links come back with empty message errors, and im using a 256K line.

Anyone on here got Blueyonder we can allways use that.
