Can someone help me out. I'm putting a newsletter together explaining why we must pay conference claims to the connectional church. My question is can someone send me a list of some, if not all obligations the connectional church has. (examples all the Black colleges we support financialy, salaries, over seas projects, and domestic.)

All of the information is included in the Discipline. It is a great deal of information and shows all of the financial reporting for each district and allocations.

There's a simpler answer than that. We "pay claims" because we are a Connectional church. Giving is a fundamental pillar of Christianity. In the recent list of Kwanzaa principles was "Cooperative Economics". The central budget is an opportunity for all the churches of our connection to pool their resources and coperate in funding critical intiatives (worship and evangelism, special projects), assuring a uniform set of materials for teaching and evangelism (sunday school union, christian education), providing for our leadership (episcopacy), etc. yes, some of the funding does go to operations (general secretary, treasurer, some publications).
