Today [12-29-00] is the fourth day of Kwanzaa. The guiding principle for today is Ujamma [i.e. cooperative economics]. This principle encourages African-descendant people of the US to promote wealth creation and income re-distribution activities by putting group efforts and needs above individual concerns. This requires committment by black consumers to financially support and patronize black business for long-term economic stability. As an economist I find this principle to be the philosophical foundation for many indigenous African economic development progrmas [i.e. Nkruma's Ghana or Nyere's Tanzania]. Now read Acts 2:43-46.
