dcc for other than locomotive use

im presently building a h.o scale steel mill complex and know next to nothing about d.c.c.i would like to control some of the larger bridge cranes found in the furnaces and rolling mills to be able to bridge,trolley and hoist,is this possible with d.c.c? has anyone tried this before?any reply would be greatly appreciated.-brian bazan

Answers

Commercially Roco has produced 2 different cranes that are DCC controlled. One is a railroad crane and the other is a dock side crane. Using the standard motor control and some external switching circuitry controlled by the function outputs you could control multiple motors using a single DCC decoder. This is basically what is done in the Roco units.
