If one is using a nesting box, why is baby keeper screen necessary? It seems that by the time the babies are able to jump out of the nesting box, they couldn't possibly fall through the cage sides. Obviously, we just starting out with rabbits, so set me straight.

glynnis, Unfortunately, sometimes a baby will find it's way out of the box. (I think it is a stubborn one who will not let got of the nipple and gets dragged out) They move around looking for warmth and their buddies, crawling into the weirdest places and through the smallest of holes. The other down side is that unless you find these babies quick, they died from cold.My hutches are made with the wire small from the start. Helps to keep other animals away from the rabbits too.

Hi Glynnis. Also, baby rabbits, even a few weeks old can and do get their hocks (back leg knees) stuck straight down in the larger holes. And the little things can't get un stuck. We have baby wire on the bottom and up 6 inches or so on the sides.
