Implications of USSC ruling

This is from the klipsan.com site. Political news around the world. Despite the disclaimer in the per curium, I wonder if the individual States don't need to do some serious voting/election reform before 2002 or 2004.

Associated Press on December 13 reported that The U.S. Supreme Court's ruling didn't just scuttle the Florida recount - it also raised troubling questions for more than half the states, where laws rely on the same vague standards for recounts that left this election in crisis. As legal scholars sort out the ruling, many conclude that states were handed a potential time bomb of election disputes and constitutional questions. And it will be up to legislatures to defuse it. ``The principle of the case is so large that it could involve constitutional challenges all across the world of elections,'' said Cass Sunstein, a constitutional scholar at the University of Chicago.

The Klipsan Press United States Politics & Elections information site is now online. The site features links to election results, electoral politics and demographics information, maps, news sources, campaign finance data, and politcal parties and organizations. It also has links to the Klipsan Press state politics and election sites: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, District Of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming.

All I can say is, it's long overdue. Our elections in this country are handled so badly, it's a miracle that we haven't had something like this mess before.

(Well ... OK, we did back in the Hayes-Tilden election, but you know what I mean.[g])

My vote is for all-electronic voting -- but require that the source code be published.
