Gawd.. It's hard to imagine amost a year has gone by since our group chat session last New Year's Eve. How time flys as we get older (I mean as you get older..heh).We will probably just hang around the house as usual..Have a nice dinner and some drinks...ya, we're fairly boring ;)

Don't get me wrong -- I LOVE a good party, but my favorite New Years' Eves now are actually the ones at home. I enjoy them when my kids are there -- in one way.And in another way, when they're not. (inscrutable grin)
Oh, the last New Years' Eve party I was at was kinda lame, and a little too contrived; maybe that soured me. You know...the kind where you want to leave at the count of 6 to beat the traffic.
But I'm still thankful for 'em all. I mean, they coulda been worse. Like when the warden orders the cell doors closed at 10:00.

I'm not going to leave the house. The banks will be closed, and people will be rioting in the streets, and the ball will fall on all those people in New York, and Martial Law will be declared, and the stores won't have toilet paper and vandalism will be the order of the day.NOPE...I'm staying home. I have my rusty hubcap, and my new neighbor has a little dog that I could easily lure with some rotten meat and squeeze until he fills my hubcap.

I'm w/Anita, w/Clinton likely to be our next Pres I'm afraid.I'll monitor the y2k again and hope for the best.
But I wont fly my sis up this year and my cupboard is almost bare!
But, here's counting on Anita to sell me 1/2 the dog if it gets too rough. LOL.
Chill all you animal lovers, I'm just kidding.
I prefer cat instead.

OK, between this thread and capn's "fondest Christmas memory", I can't even see beyond the tears streaming down my face.
You guys are hilarious :-)
Peg, I can't believe it's a year already. I was just thinking about that the other night.....

Get your own dog, 'sumer. 'sides...that little thing doesn't even qualify as half a dog. It's a miniature doberman puppy, a little bigger than my hand. Your frog probably produces more urine.

I will be at home with my better half, sipping a nip of the old toddy and enjoying a New Year's kiss right at the crack of midnight. :)One thing I don't understand, though. I've always lived in the Eastern Time Zone. Since I'm in Central now, what do I do? Do I celebrate with Dupont Face and the gang in New Yerk, or do I wait until my midnight to celebrate?
Do I make my own ball drop?
Does the ball drop me?
... after further thought, I think I'll just HAVE a ball.
So there.

You start celebrating when the ball drops, and keep it up till after midnight local time. What else?
-- Anonymous, December 01, 2000
I've always lived in the Central Standard Time zone, and I can assure you, Paul, it's damn hard to hold a kiss for an hour.

Glad I could provide ya with a little chuckle Pat,I still get a kick out of it.This New Year's will be most excellent, with New Year's Eve falling on a Sunday I will have that day off as well as New Years day,so I will get to party full blast and have a BIG time, instead of working till 11:30 and trying to catch up with everyone else.It doesn't happen that the days fall in this order very often and in my biz(wine/liquor)ya gotta love it when it does.
Besides, sinse this is the true so called Millenium we can party likes it's ummm..... 1999? : )

I shall be in the 'Burgh, laughing maniacally as I ship a spec off to a Company Which Shall Not Be Named and breeding my hamsters for higher intelligence.

I\Party? I was up last year from the time the first country rolled over until it hit the states. I wasn't too worried, my kids were at a party across town. I fell asleep by the time the rollover hit me and was feeling a dumb feeling of anticlimatic expectation over it all.The next day when someone on tb2k asked Paula goofie to explains something and it pissed me off. I was worried about the mental state of all the people to whom the breakdown of society was a reality waiting to happen. It is a big jar to the sence of reality for what we see to conflict with what is, it can cause emotional backlash that effects us for the rest of our lives.
I could see on tb2k the need of so many people to continue their "relationships" even thought what had brought them together was gone. I tried to write about that. I even felt sorry for some of the people who had constantly bashed me.
I sure wish I could talk to the people who wrote to Ed Yourdon. (I had completely forgotton his name and had to go look it up on the origional TB *giggle*.)
I wish I could have written what they wrote him.
For years now I have gone around giving rides to people who had too much fun to safely drive themselves. I will probably do that again this year.
Being on the west Coast has been helpful with the kids, we always let them count down with New York, believing they were staying up, and sent them to bed so we/I could do my little driving thing.
I have had so many miserable New Years Days that it is kinda fun beuing the only one around who feels good in the morning.
I think I will plan on celebrating next New Years, going all out and going somewhere, maybe Vegas.

New Years? Probably safe and sound in my little hovel, watching Dick Clark supervise the 16th recount of the Florida ballots. (New Year's Eve is the one night I let the amateurs chew up the roads.)

Rofl @ all the responses here as well.As for the 'frog', the damn cats got it...found it hopping ALL over the floor picked it up at 7:30 am running thru house screaming for 16 year old to "come help me" so I could put water in its lil aqua frog place with toothpaste STILL in my mouth.
Cats were 'almost' satisfied. I'm sure the 'frog' produced lotza urine that day :-)
Oh, the bearded dragon backed up the 20lb. cat the other day. *go figure*
Now on TOPIC....
Stephen, I had the same dillema you did a few years back. It is quite easy. Start toasting around 12:00 high noon, IF you arent passed out, you can celebrate both time zones, if you are, WELL, you then have an excuse for missing both :-0 smirk.
