Despite the acrimonious debate concerning the outcome of the 2000 Presidential election, I for one will take time to thank and honor all military personnel who risk life so that we can indulge in dialouge about "voting irregularities". As incredible as this may sound, there are some things more important than POLITICS. There are many superb AME, Baptist & COGIC ministers who happen to serve as military chaplains for our soldiers here and abroad. To them I say, Thank you and Be Strong and of Good Courage. The diversity of the American people is an unquestioned strength but the decision to be placed in harm's way so that I and others can freely pontificate is too easily overlooked and taken for granted. My prayer for Veteran's Day can be summed up as follows:

Heavenly Father, I give you all praise and glory for providing us with a blanket of protection represented by our men and women in combat past and present. I thankyou for their dedication, professionalism and desire to promote American interests abroad. I now pray that you will provide encouragement to the hearts of those military personnell who are away from their loved ones. Let their families know that you can indeed be their Rose of Sharon, The Bright & Morning Star, a Wheel in the middle of a Wheel. Above all Lord renew a spirit of repsect and gratitude for non-vets to these outstanding Americans. In the mighty name of Jesus I ask this. Amen!!

Bill thank you for your post. I am happy that we have a day in which we honor those who served in the arm forces. In my town it is a big celebration! At 10 am veterans met in the cemetary for a special service and balloons were bought by members of the community for ten dollars in honor of loved ones who had died in combat. The proceeds will be use to build the world war II memorial in washington. By the way the National funeral directors association is spearheading a fund raising drive for the world war II memorial. I also hope that today will also be a day when we will remember African-American soldiers who defended our country while also dealing with extreme racism in this country.
