What is the history on the hospital at 15th and lake? Why and when did it close down?

This is the Public Health Servic Hospital otherwise known as Marine Hospital. The Marine Hospital (nothing to do with Semper Fidelis) was the Government Hospital for sick and injured sailors on commercial vessels. It started out in San Francisco on Rincon Point in the 1850s.
