What is your understanding of multimedia? Can MTV be considered multimedia? Why or why not?

My understanding of Multimedia is that you are given several ways of doing or veiwing information at the same time.Yes, I do because it consists of videos, television, cd"s, and the Internet. The use of meltimedia to present communication is more effective than using only a single medium.

To me, multimedia is using all the technologies available. MTV to some extent can be considered multimedia. It incorporates music, television and video all in one. Children of all ages and adults are constantly being bombarded by different music and different places from all over the world. It is an educational tool as well. Where else can you see artists from around the world perform their music and sometimes show us scenes from their countries. There are also some negative aspects to it also. Some of the materials shown are not suitable for children to watch, and it is very difficult to regulate cable as opposed to network tv. There lies the dangers of the multimedia, you are exposed to good or bad things that sometimes should not be shown. You can also say the same for computers and video games. With ever new technology there is a danger of it having a negative aspect to it. Computers pose that danger also, with chatrooms, porn sites and other opportunitites that young adults are aware of. Parents must constantly check with their children, to see if they have gone into potential "danger zones." With ever good there is also evil, even with technologies.

Multimedia is a form of communication that integrates more than one medium. It is a collection of experiences that stimulate all five senses which include visual, auditory, olfactory (smell), tactile (feeling)and taste. MTV can be considered multimedia because it is a form of entertainment that uses auditory and visual senses integrating sound, graphics, animation and video.

My understanding of Multimedia is that it is an intergration of more than one form of technology communication. For examaple Multimedia include record based data, numeric data, and animation which is a combination of more then one form of technology. MTV can be considered a multimeida because MTV is a combination of more than one type of technology also it provide information in multiple mode. Also MTV include a varity of animation imaging modes.

Multimedia defined by the dictionary is Ba blend within one program or presentation of many media elements: LIVE ACTION, film, graphics, sound, lighting, and videotape combined. Does mean that multimedia is using more then one-technology medium to express or communicate someoneBs idea. In essence I believe that MTV is not completely multimedia. Why? MTV does not have live action combined in their shows

Multimedia is the use of more than one type of communication. There are many ways to communcate a message and people respond to various form of stimuli. The five senses are tools that recieve messages from the environment. The fove senses can be used to enhance learning if done correctly. MTV is a multi-media format and if used correctly can be used to enhance learning. In the classroom that I am observing the students are encouraged to use the MTV web site by the reading specialist who vistits the room. He encourages the classroom teacher to allow it because it encuorages them to read about something they are interested in. MTV is multimedia because many different forms of communication are used. Music,text,inerviews,video,animation etc. If the teacher carfully plans and chooses appropreate material MTV can be used as a tool for learning.

Multimedia is an informant. Multi meaning in excess and Media being newspapers, news boardcast etc. MTV is in some ways a multimedia, they not only give music news performers but also world news and local news. MTV also gives news on the Presidential election. Therefor MTV is a form of multimedia.

My understanding of multimedia consist of a variety technology used to bring information and entertainment to the public. I would consider MTV to be multimedia because of the technology they use and their involvement with giving the public what it needs. They have news and entertainment and shows and games. I believe they are also extending their company to help children in education.

Multimedia is communication through more than one form of technology. I do think that MTV is a form of multimedia. They use television and the internet to communicate to their audience. The amount of people that are involved in MTV, either through the TV or through the computer, is a massive amount of people, so MTV must be doing something right. If only our communities of learning could be that big. MTV has branched out to selling books, which I am amazed by. But with the power and influence that MTV has, maybe our students will be reading more (even if what they are reading is crap, at least they are reading somehting).
