For several years I'm happily using the 8008s together with SB25 flash. The last time when I fired the flash with its full power in a closed room, the 8008s Autofocus mechanism was damaged! Is it coincidence? Or maybe a known problem?

I have been using my 8008s with the SB25 also and have never had a problem. Contact you local Nikon Distributer and ask them. It may be related or it may be total coincidence.
