greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

O.K., I know I've seen the answer to this a million times, but now that I need it I can't find it anywhere! Can anyone here help? I have a zillion pumpkin seeds and I would like to roast them. I have washed them and they are now soaking in salty water; do I just spread them on a cookie sheet and pop in oven @ maybe 350 degrees-but for how long?I bet one of you knows this!thanks!

You got the answer! Usually you just bake them to your preference of crunchiness, start at 10 minutes, check them, and go from there. I do about 15 minutes @ 350 degrees. Have fun and enjoy! Annie in SE OH.

Don't forget to sprinkle them with a little garlic powder, cajun seasoning, salt or whatever your favorite spice is before baking!

Martha Stewart says don't wash them - just get off as much pulp as possible and salt with kosher salt - I think she dries them at a lower temp - maybe 250?

Also, I actually have never eaten pumpkin seeds - are they like sunflower seeds where you bite off the outer shell and eat the inner, tender seed? (I KNOW this is an unbeliveably dumb question!)

I think they are much better if you don't wash them.

Maybe we're primitive, but we just clean them of as much pulp as possible, spread them on cookie sheets, add salt, and bake (250-350) "until they are done"! GL.
