Tru Silver CD-R'sgreenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread |
I thought I'd let you guys know of a site I've just come across for Video CD media. It's www.cd-dvd-supplies.com and they are making a "Tru Silver" CD-R that has no dyes, no color what so ever. It looks just like a "pressed" CD. I ordered a 10 piece sample pack, and I haven't found a DVD Player yet that won't play the discs.- Mark

This is a very interesting find.......this is only aplicable to DVD/VCD players that don't read CD-R meadia (most read them), but if your DVD player doesn't support VCD to begin with, you are still shit out of luck. Seems like Sony's newer players don't support them. Every CD related product I have supports CD-R's just fine so this is no biggie.Otherwise, great advice!

Have you tested these discs on DVD players that are listed as CD-R incompatible? You do know that these TruSilver discs are really Mitsui Platinum released under another name

I have never ran across a case where the color of the disks made any difference whatsoever. I've tried blue, silver etc.... Most DVD players will not play homemade video cd's from a CD-R. A lot of them will play homemade video cd's from a CD-RW disks

the color of the disk does make a difference. some laser cannot read at the wavelenght that some colors reflect. however they are all designed to read the wavelenght of the silver disc. so, if you have a dvd player and have trouble playing cdrs make sure the solor is close to silver, try those trusilver discs (i have never tried them) or cdrw whose wavelenght closely resembles that of a silver cd.
