What do you reckon the increase in fuel consumption is when you compare a Vauxhall Vectra 1.8 running on choke to one running on a warmed up engine: in precentage terms? This is not a trick question or anything, it's a genuine query!

Thought they all had automatic chokes now and with fuel injection isn't it all done with computers to vary the fuel intake. I take it yours is nakked?

Nah it's a fuel injected version. I guess what you're saying is that the percentage will vary with regard to engine/oil temperature. The reason I ask is that my company are going to pay my petrol from home to work and back and seeing as I live a grand total of 1.6 miles from work and therefore I guess my car is on choke all the time into work. It may sound a bit trivial but a 10% increase could see me get a few more bob out of them! As they are taking away the benefit of paying for all my private mileage I am looking to recoup the losses in more ways than one!

Aaahhh! Then the answer is 20 mpg MAX! ;-))
You could always walk/cycle/run.

I could walk/cycle/run but the car is a company one and if I don't use it they'll take it away and I can't afford to drive around in the car I currently get as a company car, so it's not worth my while.20mpg is that what the fuel consumption would be on choke?
