Hi, everyone I am a historian and as such I love learning about people and organizations from the oral and written traditions. I am also new to the denomination and would love to hear some of the memories that have left an impression upon you from our denomination. One of my favorite memory is my first trip to the 6th Episcopal District Educational Congress.

In those days we called it the State Meeting. It was held every year then at Morris Brown College.

The first year I went we got to stay in the brand new dormitory call the Twin Towers. The girls stayed on one side and the boys on the other.

I could not get over how many people where there. This had to be around 1969 -70.

I also remember learning one of my first lesson on witnessing. Rev. L.J. Jones now Presiding Elder Jones of Atlanta North Conference told the class that if someone from Jehovah Witness comes to your door and proclaim that they are Jehovah Witness for us to answer them back and say "So am I".

He taught us that no one had a elusive claim on witnessing for God. We all can witness for Jehovah and tell the Good News of Jesus.

When we returned home I tried it and every since then I just love to see the Jehovah Witness members coming down the street.

Another memory of that meeting was seeing a young man our age busy about as they say The Father's Business. After classed many of us would go to the gym to play ball or to Hickman Hall (name after Bishop Hickman) to meet girls and listen to music. Kid stuff. But this one young man had his bible in his hand at all times and was always reminding us about the time for services and prayer meeting.

As it turned out this young man is now my Pastor. Rev. Richard Q. Ward Sr. I never would have guessed it. The connection of the AME Church is what makes it strong. You can be at a meeting talking to someone and the next thing you know they are related to someone in your town at your church. Hope this helps.

Greetings in the name of Jesus our Lord and Saviour

First impressions are lasting, I joined the AME Church in 1975 and one of the most pleant memories was with the appointment of Bishop and Mrs Ming to South Africa

I attended the Leadership Congress organised by them and what a sight it was to see AME's from South Africa meeting in one place. Needless to say this is the very place where she introduced us to the un- official Anthem .... "I'm Somebody ... Proud to be ..an AME".

The little things we do with sincerity and enthusiasm will forever remain printed in the minds of tose we share our faith with
