looking for people in Mountain View/West Plains Missourigreenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread |
I am new to the Mountain View / West Plains Missouri area and I'd like to meet some like minded people...ie. countryside philosopy. We are a family of four. Our kids are boy 12 and daughter 9....we homeschool. I haven't gotten the farm up and running yet but when I do we will have an orchard, organic garden, bees, chickens, pigs, milk cow, and probably a horse(for my daughter...she's at that age :o). I grind all of our flour and cornmeal, make our bread, heat with wood and live a very simple lifestyle. I have also been a seamstress for years and would like to learn to spin and weave (guess I better add some sheep to that previous list). I look forward to meeting some folks in this area. Amanda

Hi Amanda---Well, I wish we lived closer. I am just getting our farm in a month and want to start tinkering a bit ourselves. I am looking to hook up with some people in our area. We live in Monett, but are moving a bit more north in about a month. Good luck in finding some closer neighbors.

I've seen a lot of post the past month on Missouri, so look at some of the old post you should be able to find someone, and email them if you don't get any response . They may call these threads I'm a new one to the forum. Wish i lived close to you would love to get together with you, but I live all the way down in Tx, N.E. Tx so not so, so far. Good Luck and keep us posted. I also have a 17, 12 and 6 yrs old, and am praying for more one day, if the Lord is willing. WELCOME!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is a GREAT FORUM.

I live near Ava, Mo. It's probably a bit over an hour's drive to West Plains from here. I do know there are other homesteaders in that area. If townsqr.com has a local bulletin board, ask there. The people who read all the posts realated to the Ozarks, are probably getting tired of me plugging this, but a while ago I started an email list for Ozark Homesteaders. It's web page is at: http://www.egroups.com/group/Ozark-homestead It's been slow lately, but feel free to post an introduction and start asking questions.

Hook up with Gene GeRue at www.rualize.com He lives in the suburbs of Zanoni, but that's not far from where you are. Also, have you sought out Tom and Paula Speraneo? Their S&S Aqua Farm site is www.townsquare.com/snsaqua/Good luck!

I am in Colorado, but will be moving back to Missouri in about a month. We have been gone from there for 8 years. In fact just finished loading the first load to leave for there tomorrow. We bought 10 acres in the Warsaw area. I would have liked to move further south but all of our family is in the Kansas City area and felt that we should stay close to them. Paul I just signed up for that Ozarks homestead group. I am sure there are more people around than this. Hope to meet some of you also. Lynette
