The opening page to AME Today provides a nice sporting touch about America's real pastime, college football. College football brings towns and communities together like no other recreational event. The fun of tailgating, half-time band performances, athletic prowess and collegiate bragging rights make for a special festive occassion. I hope the fans of black college football in the PA-NJ-MD-DE area will come out and support this event. I'm a former cornerback and split end and once possesed a chiseled body frame with little to no body fat. Well, two decades later and married with kids my gridiron heroics are limited to pick up games with my co-workers. I regret I won't be in Philly for the Sept. 30, 2000 Richard Allen Kick-off Classic.

Those of us from the New York Conference of the 1st District will most certainly be there. Buses, cars, and trains! Oh MY! We will support our black colleges as well as the endeavor of our Bishop & District.

Yahoo! football, living in Montana means no good football teams. So tell me about the teams playing this weekend. How have they done in the past, who are the quarterbacks, and do you have any predictions on the outcome. Sign me up for next year! It was a great day to see one of the AME Colleges in action. It was also a nice group of people in the stands. Despite a small crowd it was a great opportunity for more of the same next year. In attendance that I saw was Rev. Henry A. Belin III and Rev. James Lawrence both of the NY Conference. In addition I ran into Bishop Norris at the concession stand. He is doing well and looking forward to working for and with his district. Next year I hope Morris Brown wins!
