Welcome!
We now have this bulletin board to help members of S.O.S. (Support Onteora Schools)communicate. It may be a useful way of exploring all the ideas we raise in a more structured manner. This may be a good way to discuss issues and therefore save time at our meetings. Let's keep the discussions civil with no flaming of members allowed.
Simply click on the thread you wish to view and you can submit a response at the bottom of the page. To view current discussions, simply click the latest week.
On the main page, which opens up after you submit the password, you may wish to click onto "If you want to follow this discussion by email, click here to add an alert." Click that link and fill out the form. All new messages will then be sent to you via e-mail and you won't need to go to the site until you wish to respond.
We can add new threads by clicking 'new questions' at the top of the first page. I suggest we only use this to add transcripts or letters which may be of archival use. Let's try to keep our threads informative so we know what to expect from them, and try to either keep to the subject or start new threads. I'll seed a few threads to start with, feel free to develop the board from there. I will start another weekly thread every Sunday morning, just to keep the conversations current with up-to-date information.
For obvious protocol reasons, given that this is a private BBS I think we should only give out the password after we know someone sufficiently well, and then only once we have gotten agreement from the rest of the group. We will occasionally change the password, the new one will be given by email only.
Be sure to click on 'submit' at the bottom of the submission page after you post a new message. It may take a minute or two for your answers to make it into the database and appear. To view your posted answer, try clicking your back and forward buttons to get top the page were you wish to see your reply. Then try click your "refresh screen" or "reload" button as well.
Please note that one of the idiosyncracies of this software is that it throws the moderator's postings to the top of the page. I may use fake email addresses for myself to avoid it, but if others do it, it can get confusing.
Please feel free to jump into the fray!
Thanks.
Jim
