Some strange things with jo_wbmlju_8145370_win36greenspun.com : LUSENET : MARP Editors : One Thread |
Just some observations:Running InpHisto will show that almost all lengths for bit 13 are 1. Bit 13 is button 1, but I don't really know the game, and, to me, button 1 doesn't seem to do anything.
After quickly trying this game myself, I concluded that it is not the driver (as was the case with Gaplus in T4) that causes this, so something else must have caused it.
The unofficial version of MAME32 has autofire and using it results in an analysis very similar to this recording.
I was unable to find version 36 final of the unofficial version of MAME32, though, so I tried it with uom3237b5. The reason I say this, is because of something very strange that I noticed: Eversince some 35 beta, the Windows version has been putting the version number of MAME in the header of the .inp; the DOS version does not do that, so by simply looking at the header, it can be seen whether DOS or Windows MAME was used. This particular recording does NOT have the version number in the header. Possible explanations: (1) It was not recorded with the OFFICIAL win36. (2) It was, but the .inp was edited. (3) (And this is one I cannot verify until I find 36 final of unofficial MAME) Unofficial MAME32 36 final does not put the version number in the header. This seems very unlikely to me since they use the official MAME32 source code as a base and since unoffical 37b5 does put the version number in the header.
Well, that's about it. My opinion is that autofire was used on button 1. My question is: Did the player benefit from that or do we even care whether he did or not, because autofire is not allowed, period? And then there is the strange thing about the MAME version used (although he could just simply have made a mistake and meant to put DOS 36 final)...
Cheers, Ben Jos.

OK... button 1 does do something: It's the sword, but the button doesn't do anything until you actually get the sword. :-)Cheers, Ben Jos.

I don't see anything wrong with this recording (no benefit from the sword being used as autofire) but i didn't watch it all the way through. I've seen this 1 frame press phenomenon in other games with dosmame when autofire isn't used. I would guess it's a dos36 mame recording.
