Grace? but the grace of God she's still here? How about Hope? Hoping she'll stick around? We had a cat named Hope once. We named her that because we "hoped" that our older cat wasn't going to kill her! Just my .02 worth!

I vote for Mercy!

Renee, I vote for Red Cell! No really molassas plays hell on the rumen given above what is normally in their grain, and even pellets contain molassas. I would go to the feed store and start giving her Red Cell, it will build her blood faster also. My kids next year are going to be old fashion names, and I think I am going to steal your Prudence! You have a great day. Vicki

I LOVE old-fashioned names. We just named our new kitten "Paisley", his brother is "Piglet", and big sis is "Patchouli". Speaking of names, has anyone ever heard the name "Argemond", for a girl? I have a journal I picked up at an estate sale, and the writer's daughter is named Argemond. I'd love to know where that name came from & how to pronounce it. Isn't picking out names one of the most fun things about having critters??

Hi, Renee, glad the little one is hanging in there! I love the name Mercy, that's really beautiful. My newest baby is a teeny little tiger kitten, I've named her Lily. Best of luck.

How about "Sidivey", as in "little lamsidivey..."

I named our version of your lamb Ewenice. She's still hanging in there after 7 years and is probably as spoiled as any critter can get. Our local custom hay baler, Mr. Mohr, was here with his 4 year old grandson here once. I asked the little boy if he'd like to feed and pet one of the sheep. Granddad said that the boy's family had sheep and Angora goats but "Of course, they can't pet them because they're wild." You should have seen the man's face when I called her by name and from the far end of the field, here came running one little sheep, bleating her head off in anticipation of her treat. The rest stayed right where they were. The child was delighted as Ewenice licked the feed from his hand then stood to have her ears scratched. Definitely a Kodak moment--of Mr. Mohr's face!

I have had really good results with Red Cell, too, and agree with Vicki about molasses' effect on the rumen.

Cathy thats funny a lady just called after picking up one of our tiger kittens , she said she is settling in well and they named her Lily ! I have a Jersey heifer calf about 8 weeks old named Lily too !

BIG OOPS on my part. I no longer have a bottle of Red Cell and couldn't check the ingredients. My sincerest apology to any and all for putting my foot in my mouth. I had a private email about the copper in Red Cell and possibility of copper toxicity. However, I gave Ewenice very small amounts for only a few days. She obviously wasn't as bad off as Renee's lamb that definitely doesn't need the added stress of copper poisoning.

Because I couldn't find Red Cell in small quantities, I switched to a similar product called Sheep Nutri-Drench. The label says it's for sheep off feed, weak or chilled newborns, scours, pneumonia, shipping stress, pregnancy toxemia, twins and triplets. It contains propylene glycol, cane molasses or beet molasses, potassium chloride, sulfur, cobalt sulfate, ferrous sulfate, zinc sulfate, manganese sulfate, sodium selenite, magnesium sulfate, sodium bicarbonate, calcium gluconate, ammonium phosphate, Vitamin A acetate and palmitate, Vitamin D3 supplement, alpha-tocopherol (source of Vitamin E), Vitamin E suppplement, thiamine, niacin, methionine, lysine, choline chloride, sucrose, fructose raffinose. The manufacturer is Bovidor Laboratories, Inc. For information or nearest dealer, 1-800-658-4016. All this information is typed straight from the label--I've used it on goats and sheep with no problems. Again, I do apologize for recommending a product without looking at the label.

For my two cents, I nominate that you name her Limbo, as she just barely made it in under the wire!

How about Timex because she takes a licking and keeps on ticking. I'm dating myself with a reference to that OLD commercial. Quick! Who else remembers the name of the announcer and what other product did he hype?

Was it Karl Maulden?

-- sheepish (rborgo@gte.net), August 22, 2000.

I think it was John Cameron Swayze. He also used to do the evening news. I'm remembering it was on CBS, but the mind may be playing tricks.

How about MIRACLE? Sounds like she is one. We rescued a cat that some jerk used for target practice. After 2 surgeries we were able to save his leg. Great cat. Named him CHANCE, as he got a second chance at life. Kate
