Laurie's Memory and Desire reminds me rather of American Beauty -- unhappy, tormented souls in bland suburbia and so on. Digital Ink is more akin to Twin Peaks -- darkness and freakiness in a small town, which of course is something completely different...

I wouldn't want my journal (if I had one) to be compared to a film, but I will admit that Tim's I Wasn't Built to Get Up at This Time reminds me of the Adrian Mole books.
