Hi, Does anyone know any small program that can let me scroll through my AVI file and then take a frame out as image file?

Xing Player can do the same for MPEG file, but I am not aware of any that does in AVI. My Ulead Media Studio has Video Paint that can do that (kind of), but only limit the AVI to 900 frames. I prefer one that can take my large AVI file.

Your Ulead Media Studio Pro has a Video Capture module which also allows you to playback any avi file. You can use it to capture a single still frame from any frame in your avi file.

Thanks NT for the comment. gee.. never try to use that Video Capture module before ..:)

But Video Capture has no timeline/slider to let me sweep through my entire AVI. I could fast forward, but if only it has a slider, just like what Xing has.

Use File>Open and select the avi file you want to capture from and playback the avi file using the VCR-like controls at the bottom. When you hit the frame you want to capture, hit F8 to capture it and save it as an image file. Scroll the format type and select from the list.

You can use the double-arrowed buttons to fast skip through the video.

Just an update on the issue. I found a freeware at www.supershareware.com called Free123. Very simple AVI player that looks just like the "preview" function in windows 98 for AVI files, with the play button, a slider, and option to copy the snapshot to clipboard. Not perfect but it works fine. I then paste the clipboard content in MS Paint and save as BMP. Anyway, thanks for the help, NT.

For this purpose look at tucows. I think the program is called random frame. It seems good, for that purpose.

Another question: does anyone know a similar program, wich can make multiple snapshots, and saves them with prefix and number? I dont want to enter a new filename every time, when I capture multiple frames from a video.
