Tell me about your college adventures.

well i go to a school that is also known for its partying. East Carolina, LIke in 1985 we were one of the top ranked party schools in play boy and it just stuck, but really, i didn't go JUST for that. The fact that it was 6 hours away from my parents helped a considerable amount. My Freshmen year, the very first day of school i might add, I had a wreck. This was no ordinary wreck. It was the Funniest thing. I actually hit a , and get this, a Porta Potty Pumper. I totaled my car, had several stiches and a concusion, oh, and did i mention it was my fault? But now, when i can look back on it, its pretty funny to tell everyone i had a run in with a porta potty pumper, Kinda puts a funny spin into the term "i got into a lot of sh*t".
So anyway, thats my funny, dramatic college adventure

Ah. I have been at Penn State for 6 weeks. I've done more drinking in these 40 short days then I had in my entire 18 years at home. Everything here revolves around Greek Life, football, and boosting the egos of the pretentious professors. But it's damn beautiful, though.

On the day before I left for my freshman year, my eye had major problems. One of the connector things inside of it decided to disattach (my God, I can't talk or use correct words, you wouldn't even know that I'm a college student) and I thought I was going to need eye surgery. Luckily, I kept it shut the whole day and it seemed to have fixed itself.College is fun though. I like it. I hate reading 400 pages of boring crap, but that's alright.

*groan* Tiffany, I'm in the process of college applications too... and the choices and the work involved are NOT pretty. I'm looking forward to college, I just don't want to do all the crap involved in getting me there! Plus of course there's the nightmare that I won't be accepted to ANY of the schools I'm applying to. All this makes for just delicious freak-out material, and it's coming on top of preparing (or not) for my A Levels in November. Isn't life grand? *sweet smile*

Oh my god. You guys are filling out your college applications already? I was gonna wait a couple more months. Crap. That does not make me feel good. I am so lost. Ahhh, college is a pain.

I was at college for four weeks last October. I had to walk six miles a day just to get to lectures and practical sessions (didn't have a car, no public transport, and riding a bike would have certainly gotten me killed). I also had to get up at 7am on Saturday mornings to get to three hours of lectures. Not surprisingly, I was perpetually ill, fainted in my shower and got a black eye, and spent most of my days rereading Irvine Welsh books while everyone else did work and partied at ear-damaging decibel levels. I got behind with my work and v. stressed out, and I had to leave. For some reason, I'm going back in a month and a half . . . although this time, I'm going to a campus university and doing Film Studies instead of Computer Science. Which means 8 hours of classes a week instead of 24. Yay!

I've been in college for two years now (sheesh, it doesn't feel like that long at all), and I don't know when my last college-related adventure was or IF I ever had one at all. Isn't that depressing? I lived in the dorm for one year, and I spent most of my time there watching TV and writing entries for my stupid online journal (please, college-bound readers, don't get obsessed with your online journal during your freshman year! It is Not a Good Thing). I barely studied, either. I wish I could do that entire year over again. I'd study and socialize instead of babble about my life to a bunch of Internet people. After that, I moved off-campus. The dorm I was in didn't have air conditioning, and it hits 100 degrees in Georgia more often than you might think. That year was especially bad. Also, I lost about fifteen pounds due to the gross lack of vegetarian options at the dining hall. People thought I was anorexic (I wasn't. My roommate was, but I had no clue at that time).
Anyway, now I'm serious about grad school and getting involved in lots of activities this fall. My grades have vastly improved, I added a second major, and I was dumb enough to take classes this summer (just finished my finals today. Yay! Now I get a lousy week-and-a- half-long break before fall semester starts).
And that's my not-so-adventurous adventure.

Here are my pre-college adventures:I was hell-bent on getting out of my state (MN) because I thought it was pathetic to go to a school in my home state.
And so, my family and I decided to combine college visits with "vacation." In August before my senior year, we drove (4-person car, 4 people) east, all over the place. We hit colleges in Ohio, Virginia, Indiana, Maryland, North Carolina, New York, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, blah blah blah. We saw the Statue of Liberty, the entire city of Washington, D.C., the football hall of fame, etc., etc., etc.
We drove for 11 days. 11 days in the car. With my family. And it was hot!
And then I had to apply. Well, I ended up only applying to three schools, and reluctantly to the last two. I hated the application process, and knew where I would end up (in MN). So I applied sarcastically to Johns Hopkins and Duke (and got in). But I left them to the last minute.
And I was so happy I had....I am currently going to the U of MN, Twin Cities, and I love it to death. Good lord, I love that school. I wish school had started already!
