As you recall, I did a field test on this lens a while back. I talked about its performance and reported that it had excellent sharpness. This report provides some additional information about the 400. I have shot it a lot recently at f/8 and can report that using a 15x loupe on Velvia film, that this lens is one of the better ones in the line. I really couldn't tell it apart from the 150 Takumar shot at f/8. The 400 Takumar at this aperture was impressive. I did not use test targets but instead used real world subjects(lightning).
