salsa mix

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

I was wondering if anyone has a recipe for the salsa mix you buy like Mrs. Wages, Ball, etc. My recipe books call for all fresh ingredients and I hate paying almost $2 a package for the stuff in the stores when I have all kinds of spices in my cabinets. I just don't know which ones to use or how much of each. If you have any information I would greatly appreciate it.

Kathy6, This recipe is one I have used and it turned out pretty good..

1 can diced tomato and green chiles ( Rotel or storebrand) 1 six oz can of tomato sauce 1/4 cup sliced green onion (or sweet onion , your choice) 1 1/2 tbl snipped cilantro or parsley 1 tsp minced garlic 1 tbl concentrated lemon juice

You can put it in a blender and blend till smooth or mix in a bowl by hand for a chunky salsa. Add a diced jalapeno for character if you like, but I have found the tomatos and chiles to be warm enough.

Kathy6, for a really HUGE list of Mexican recipes, including lots of salsa recipes, try:

If anyone knows of a similar source, I'd enjoy seeing it. Thanks.
